Other Carnivores
African wild dogs, wolverines, wolves—carnivores like these have a reputation for their ferocity, but these icons of the wild are increasingly vulnerable. Many carnivore species are ill equipped to survive in landscapes dominated by people. Their habitats in some of Earth’s most rugged terrain are increasingly fragmented, separated into islands that isolate their populations.
Hippo & elephant
They are the giants of the animal world, they have the weight of huge size, amazing, and boundless strength.
Small Primates
Small primates include monkeys and “prosimians,” meaning “pre-apes.” More monkey species and subspecies—at least 200—live in the New World (South and Central America) than anywhere else.
Birds
Now existing in the world, a total of more than 9,000 species of birds, almost 2000 years, 139 species of birds have disappeared from the Earth, one-third, is nearly 50 years to extinction
Hoofed Mammals
IANF works from the plains of North America to the wetlands of Southern Sudan to save ancient wildlife migration corridors, study the environmental impacts of natural resource extraction, and develop sustainable land-use management plans to save Earth’s majestic hoofed herds.
Big Cats
Revered for their beauty and vitality, the five species of big cats include tigers, lions, leopards, jaguars, and snow leopards. Despite the cats’ reputation for ferocity, these majestic predators face more danger than they pose: All are endangered, due mainly to habitat loss, poaching, and dwindling populations of their prey.
